Overview: Becoming an Ellis & Associates ILTP® Lifeguard Instructor
Deciding to become an ILTP® lifeguard instructor is a giant step toward setting the safety standard at your facility and training your staff to anticipate, recognize, and manage any kind of aquatic or non-aquatic emergency. There may be many reasons behind why you want to become an E&A lifeguard instructor. You may be a lifeguard, ready to take your passion for aquatics to the next level. Upon completion of an ILTP® lifeguard instructor course, you will be able to teach an ILTP® professional lifeguard credential course combined with water rescue skills and health care provider level CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen administration into a single curriculum and single credential.
The Requirements to Become an ILTP® Ellis Lifeguard Instructor
The main requirements include:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Have an E&A lifeguard certification prior to taking an ILTP® Lifeguard Instructor course
- Pass pre-requisites (swim, tread, and brick dive)
- Perform E&A ILTP® lifeguard skills at a test-ready level
- Successfully complete ILTP® Instructor course

When you become an ILTP® lifeguard instructor, you are the student becoming the teacher, learning how to properly set up lifeguard classes and effectively teach the same lifesaving skills to students.

Not only will you be authorized to train lifeguards in the ILTP® program, but you can train stand-alone Health & Safety course (CPR, First Aid, AED) to non-lifeguards! Additional Benefits of an ILTP® Lifeguard Instructor License
In addition to being able to conduct lifeguard courses for your facility, you can also conduct community lifeguard courses to generate additional revenue. Additionally, all ILTP Lifeguard Instructors are authorized to teach individual health care provider level CPR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen administration as community classes or for non-lifeguard staff.
